51% reduction

51% reduction is available to:

1. veterans with war or military disabilities classified in groups II or III of disability or recognised as totally or partially incapable of work, with a card of a repressed person issued by the pension authority, with an appropriate entry of total or partial incapacity for work.

2. Veterans, including members of the Corps of Veterans of the Fight for Independence of the Republic of Poland and other eligible persons - pensioner, disabled persons and persons receiving retirement or family allowance.

3. Widows or widowers – pensioners and recipients of retired or family allowance, surviving their veteran spouses, including members of the Corps of Veterans of the Fight for Independence of the Republic of Poland and other eligible persons.

4. Anti-communist opposition activists and persons repressed for political reasons with:

  • a card of an anti-communist opposition activist or a person repressed for political reasons,
  • an administrative decision confirming the status of an anti-communist opposition activist or a person repressed for political reasons, accompanied by a document certifying the identity of the eligible person.

The persons listed in par. 2 - 3 are eligible for reduction with a certificate issued by the Head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression, with an entry on their eligibility for the reduction.

Certificates and cards issued by:

– Head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression,
– Office for Veterans and Victims of Repression,
– Minister of Labour and Social Policy,
– Office of Veterans Affairs,

containing entries on the eligibility for reduced fares valid until 30 January 2002, certify the eligibility to travel on KM trains, until the entry on the amount of the eligible reduction is updated or the document is replaced.

For persons listed in par. 1-3 who are members of the Corps of Veterans of the Fight for Independence of the Republic of Poland - a card of a member of the Corps of Veterans of the Fight for Independence of the Republic of Poland.

5. Students of higher education institutions – including full-time, evening or extramural studies – up to the age of 26, with a student card issued by a Polish higher education institution.

6. Students of colleges of social services workers - including full-time, evening or extramural classes, up to the age of 26, with a college student card.

7. Students under the age of 26, with disabilities or handicaps, attending a higher education institution, in connections other than for travel from their place of residence or place of stay to a kindergarten, school, higher education institution, care centre, educational institution, special educational centre, centre enabling children
and adolescents to fulfil their educational duties, rehabilitation and educational centre, social welfare home, support centre, health care institution, psychological and pedagogical counselling centre, including specialist counselling centres, or rehabilitation centre - and back, with a student pass issued by a Polish higher education institution or student pass issued by a college.

8. Students studying abroad up to the age of 26 being:

  • Polish citizens, with a student card issued by a Polish higher education institution or an International Student Identity Card (ISIC), presented along with an identity card or other document confirming the identity and age of the eligible person; the data of the eligible person may also be confirmed using the mTożsamość service,
  • citizens of the European Union within the meaning of the Act of 14 July 2006 on the entry into, residence in and departure from the territory of the Republic of Poland by citizens of the Member States of the European Union and their family members (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 293), with a student card issued by a Polish university or an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) presented along with a document confirming the right of permanent residence,
  • family members of an EU citizen within the meaning of the Act of 14 July 2006 on the entry into, residence in and departure from the Republic of Poland by nationals of the Member States of the European Union and their family members, with a student card issued by a Polish university or an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) presented along with the permanent residence card of the EU citizen's family member.

9. PhD students – participants in doctoral studies up to the age of 35, with a doctoral student card issued by a Polish university or research unit.

Student cards which do not specify the age of the student, scholar or doctoral student respectively shall be presented along with an identity card or other document certifying the person's age.
